The less famous brother currently plays for FC United, the team that was put together by Manchester United fans who were not happy with the Glazer takeover.
FC United are a team that play in the Northern Premier League Division, and who have stipulated that they will not advertise a sponsor on their shirt. They wear the same colours as Manchester United, and they are completely run by the fans who own the club. They do not currently have their own stadium and share Gigg Lane with Bury, which is amusing to say the least. There were plans to buy land near Newton Heath, which is the original home of Manchester United.
Giggs could play in the Africa Cup of Nations
Rhodri Giggs is not much younger compared to older brother Ryan, and it is because of his grandfather that Rhodri could be approached by Sierra Leone. The younger Giggs brother has not reached the professional heights of his older brother, but he has had a successful career. Playing at FC United who have fought for three promotions in seven seasons, which is nothing to play down.
At the moment Johnny McKinstry has been appointed as the caretaker-manager for Sierra Leone. The 28-year old Irishman was a coach at Craig Bellamy’s Foundation academy up until his new appointment. Sierra Leone did not qualify for next years World Cup, but Giggs is interested in the possibility to play for the Leone Stars.
There is the possibility of Giggs representing the small African nation at the next the Africa Cup of Nations, which would take place in 2015. Which is a once in a lifetime experience. If his brothers career is anything to go by then the younger Giggs still has many years of competitive football, so age would not be an issue. Ryan Giggs has not won any international trophy with his time at Wales, which sets the scene for Rhodri Giggs to have his moment in the spotlight and possibly help Sierra Leone to some success.
