Online Passport Renewal Service For British Expatriates
In the past the only way for British expatriates living in the UAE to renew their passports would have been the old fashioned way. Requiring a paper form to be filled in and sent to the UK. However, this has all changed, and now passports can be renewed online. Which shouldn’t be surprising, since the one thing we are all definitely sure of is that we now live in the digital age.
While the process has for all intents and purposes become online, there is still a physical aspect to the passport renewal. The only way for supporting documents to be sent and then checked in the manner required can only be done by actually sending them in the post, but it won’t be long till developments allow supporting documents to be sent digitally.
Online service will extended worldwide
The new service also extends to those British expatriates living in the UAE who have either lost their passports, damaged them in some way or had them stolen. Just like every other official website, expats will be able enter their personal details and pay for the new document knowing their digital footprint is safe.
It is somewhat comical but the online service is again not completely online, since the passports which will be issued to British expatriates living in the UAE will delivered in the post. And as everyone is aware, or should be, the post takes a few days to reach its intended destination.
The only benefit is that the entire passport renewal process takes less time and is more efficient, and this is definitely a positive step forward. Moreover, the online system will also be available to other British expats living in other countries. At this moment it has not extended around the world, but there are a large number of countries that the service covers.
