Spanish Giants Looking To Swoop For The Premiership’s Giants
Luis Suarez and Wayne Rooney are being head hunted by the two giants of Spanish football, Barcelona and Real Madrid respectively. With the January transfer window within touching distance, big clubs will be eyeing cheap deals. This is exactly where Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney fits into the picture.
Contract negotiations with the United striker have not progressed, and at this stage he will be a free agent come the summer. Real Madrid are very interested in Rooney, and the January transfer window could be the perfect time for the Spanish side to get hold of him for a cheap price. But this would be a waste for them, as he would be cup tied in the Champions League.
Real Madrid could find themselves in financial trouble
The more likely scenario will be that Rooney leaves next summer, going straight to Madrid. And if Manchester United play their cards right, along with a little good fortune, Real Madrid could be forced to sell Cristiano Ronaldo. In fact, they may have to get rid of Ronaldo and Gareth Bale if they are found to have received state aid, which just happens to be illegal.
Real Madrid are one of several Spanish clubs who are being investigated by the European Commission. There are allegations of Real Madrid banking billions due to favourable tax rates, and other very suspicious land deals as well as cheap loan agreements.
If Madrid are found to be guilty, then they will have to repay the money and the interest it’s accrued. This could leave the club with huge financial problems, and they would be forced to sell their most lucrative and liquid assets. Should this happen and Wayne Rooney was to head to Spain, United fans would hope a deal could be made to bring arguably the world’s best player back to Old Trafford.
