Walcott Off To France
Arsenal fans will be sad to hear that Theo Walcott, the player who many thought would become the new Thierry Henry, is set to be sold to Monaco. The French side are willing to spend £34 million in order to prize him from the grips of the north London side. While it makes decent business sense, the backlash from fans may not be 100% positive given their strong start to this season. But their recent positive results have come with Walcott out of the team due to injury.
Monaco are planning to take Walcott in the January transfer window. Whether this is a good move for the player is another matter. With the world cup looming, Walcott would like to be part of the squad heading to Brazil.
Wenger to spend the money on a striker
Usually when these rumours begin, it is just that, its rumours. But the more thought you give to the deal itself, the more it starts to make sense. Arsenal did just spend £40 million securing Mesut Ozil on the last transfer deadline day, and if he would like to splash out again in January he will need to sell in order to buy.
There are no arguments in Wenger buying Ozil, after all he is a world class player that could be the difference between challenging for the Premiership or falling well short once again. Wenger did always say that he would only be spending money on the right player, and Ozil seems to be that player.
But after buying Walcott from Southampton for £5 million, getting a return of £35 million seems to be very good business when you put all other sentiment to the side. Wenger needs a top quality striker, and £30+ million pounds will allow him to secure a quality striker that will give him the goals to shoot Arsenal to the top of the league.
