Wayne Rooney To Be Given The Premierships Biggest Contract
The future of Wayne Rooney at Manchester United is no longer in doubt, with rumours suggesting the player will be signing a new contract with the Red Devils which should keep him at Old Trafford until the end of his career. There is also no doubting the lucrative aspect of the deal, suggested to be in the region of £300,000 per week.
As crude as it may seem, a contract of this type would be the only reason why such a high profile player would remain at a club which is on the downward spiral. If the rumours are true then the deal will give Wayne Rooney the biggest contract in the Premiership, a sign of his quality and a bigger sign that Manchester United need him in their side.
David Moyes showing his ambition by keeping hold of Rooney
Current Manchester United manager David Moyes has put in the hard yards to try and change the feelings the player had with the club, especially when it looked as if he would leave had Sir Alex Ferguson remained manager. But Moyes is said to have made it clear to Rooney that he will be central to United’s future.
With Nemanja Vidic and Patrice Evra showing signs that they will leave Old Trafford when their contracts end this summer, Rooney could be a firm contender to become United’s captain. If there is any sign that a player is central to the future of a club, then the captains armband is just that sign.
Wayne Rooney, who will be on the plane to Brazil this summer for the World Cup, may have been satisfied at the clubs intentions with the signing of Juan Mata. And while the club may inevitably slide down due to a new manager taking control, bringing in top quality experienced players is a sure sign that the club is determined to reach the pinnacle of English football once more. Moyes let the English striker slip through his fingers when at Everton, surely he wasn’t going to live the situation a second time.
