Stuart Broad the Engine Behind Ashes Victory for England

Stuart Broad the Engine Behind Ashes Victory for England

Stuart Broad’s brilliant spell on Monday to seal the Ashes is still being talked about. The magical spell will forever be remembered within the cricket arena and certainly be a part of English cricket history for years to come. The seamer took six wickets for a mere 20 runs in 7.5 overs. What makes it even more impressive is that Australia chasing 299, were 147 for 1 before the Stuart Broad show came to town. Broad ended up with a total of 11 wickets in the match and his name on the tip of everyone’s tongue. Words will not describe how good of a spell Stuart Broad had produced to ensure England won the fourth test.

The atmosphere at Riverside was immense and no doubt that helped in adding to the confidence of Broad and the England bowlers, who went through the Australian batting like a scissors cutting through paper. Credit must also be given to not just Broad who can only bowl at one end,but the whole team. The rest of the English bowlers stuck to the task and gave great support to the bowling attack. This England offensive were already feared by many and now we can only imagine what batsmen must do to prepare to face us.

The Australians lost their last nine wickets for 77 runs and surely must be deflated going into the fifth and final test. It will be a test of the Australia’s strength and character, to see how Michael Clarke’s men respond to both losing the Ashes and being ripped apart by Broad. This is the first time since the 1950’s that England beat the Australians in three consecutive series. They would be looking to add insult to injury when they play the fifth test at The Oval beginning on August 21st.
