What is Coronavirus Covid-19?

Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus.

Most people who fall sick with COVID-19 will experience mild to moderate symptoms and recover without special treatment. However, some will become seriously ill and require medical attention.

How Does Coronavirus Spread?

The Covid-19 virus can spread from an infected person’s mouth or nose in small liquid particles when they cough, sneeze, speak, sing or breathe. This is the reason to wear masks and wash your hands regularly.

These particles range from larger respiratory droplets to smaller aerosols. You can be infected by breathing in the virus if you are near someone who has COVID-19, or by touching a contaminated surface and then your eyes, nose or mouth. The virus spreads more easily indoors and in crowded settings.

If you sneeze, do not take off your mask.

What is the Covid Delta variant?

Most viruses, including SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, evolve over time. When a virus replicates or makes copies of itself, it sometimes changes a little bit, which is normal for a virus.

These changes are called “mutations”. Any virus with one or more new mutations can be referred to as a “variant” of the original virus.

The Delta Covid Variant dominates the world, but scientists watch for worrisome offspring” – Reuters (15/11/2021)

The Delta variant of the SARS-CoV-2 virus now accounts for nearly all of the coronavirus infections globally, fueled by unchecked spread of the novel coronavirus in many parts of the world. So far, vaccines are still able to defend against serious disease and death from Delta, but scientists remain on alert.

The Delta variant, first detected in India in December 2020, remains the most worrisome version of the SARS-CoV-2 virus.

Delta’s “superpower” is its transmissibility, according to Shane Crotty, a virologist at the La Jolla Institute for Immunology in San Diego.

The Best Health Insurance for Covid & Cancer Cover?

Please note that the cheapest health insurance is not the best health insurance. Cheaper health insurance policies have too low a limit, which means you may not be fully covered for criticial illnesses such as cancer. At an average total of $150,000, cancer treatment costs are more than four times higher than treatment for other common health conditions.

Median MONTHLY cancer treatment costs per patient were $11,755 in the U.S., compared with $8,300 in Germany, approximately $6,950 in Switzerland, and $7,355 in England, after adjusting for currency and inflation.

One course of chemo treatment may last between 3 to 6 months. Typically, one course consists of several on-and-off cycles. One cycle usually lasts 2 to 6 weeks. If you go into remission, more treatments may be necessary.

Cost of Cancer Care Reaches Nearly $150B Nationally

Many cancer patients struggle with out-of-pocket cancer care expenses, with one drug costing nearly $12,000 annually and FDA approved drugs priced over $100,000 a year currently.

Expect these health costs to double every 7 years.

In the US, 1 in 2 women and 1 in 3 men will develop cancer in their lifetime. Now, a similar rate has been reported in the UK, with a new study published in the British Journal of Cancer claiming 1 in 2 men and women will be diagnosed with the disease at some point in their lives.

New gene therapy treatment could hit $1M per patient because of additional costs” – USA Today

The therapy, a leukemia drug from Novartis called Kymriah, was approved in August with an eye-popping sticker price of $475,000 for a one-time treatment.”
